Located at the heart of Silicon Valley, San Jose has high costs for similar reasons to San Francisco. This relatively wealthy area is mostly populated by gainfully employed people with salaries well above the national median. Despite home prices second only the San Francisco, San Jose’s home ownership rate is still 58.7%.
