1) Write everything down.
Making checklists and schedules can help you manage the apartment moving process more effectively. Other than basic things like packing, you also have to take care of a few other things too. You may need to cancel your cable and internet, to avoid paying for it later after you’ve moved. You might also need to clean, make minor repairs, and determine what you do or don’t want to bring.
You need to account for:
- Your time table. When do you need to move out, and how long do you have?
- What you need to move. There will probably be a few things you don’t keep, but it’s helpful to know what needs to be moved. An apartment moving company can take a look at what you have to give you an estimate.

Electronics that weren’t designed to be portable, like TVs and desktop PCs, should be packed into their original boxes if you still have them. If you don’t have them, flatscreen televisions should be packed into flat boxes if possible. If not, you can pack it upright in a large box, with towels, sheets, and packing peanuts to fill out the space and hold it in place.
5) Move your pets.

Make sure they have food and water, but avoid feeding them too soon before riding in the car. Some animals get carsick easily.
